Ingredients

For the cake batter:

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

For topping #1

  • 2-3 apples peeled and sliced

For topping #2:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar

For topping #3:

  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Make the cake batter by creaming the butter and sugar using an electric mixer. Add the eggs and mix well. In a small bowl combine the dry ingredients( flour, baking powder, and salt). Add in the dry ingredients to the sugar/butter mixture and stir until combined. Pour in the milk and vanilla and beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13 glass baking dish.
  • Place the sliced apples (Topping #1) on top of the batter.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for Topping #2 (butter, flour and sugar) and spread on top of the apples. This topping will be very crumbly.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for Topping # 3 (sugar and cinnamon). Sprinkle on top of the crumbly mixture.
  • Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. You can eat this warm, room temperature or cold.
