Teriyaki Sauce

Equipment

  • 2 small bowls
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1-2 small jar with lids

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Regular Soy Sauce use low-sodium soy sauce if you are watching your intake of sodium
  • ¼ cup Water
  • ¼ cup Light Brown Sugar loosely packed
  • 3 tablespoons Rice Vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Minced Fresh Ginger or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Fresh Garlic
  • Green onions If using now, garnish your dish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients except the water and cornstarch, in a medium mixing bowl, that’s microwave safe.
    Whisk the ingredients and place in the microwave for 1 minute, before removing the bowl and stirring again. If you do not have a microwave cook over medium heat until it gets hot but does not boil.
  • Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add the cornstarch slurry to the mixing bowl.
  • Whisk and place back in the microwave for another 3 minutes, pausing to stir halfway through.
  • Use right away or let cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge, for up to 1 week.
