    Big Mac! For real.

On Fox.com today, the Executive Chef of McDonald's offered a video presentation of how to duplicate their signature burger, the Big Mac. I am not a huge fan of the Big Mac but Michael loves them minus the pickles. It got my attention and I decided to give it a try. Honestly, between shopping for ingredients, making the secret sauce, chopping onions and lettuce, shaping incredibly thin beef patties, cutting and toasting the buns, grilling the meat, assembling the burgers, I worked on the Big Macs all day! I wasn't non-stop but it was time consuming. The result? A burger which very closely duplicates the taste of the famous Big Mac! Michael said the sauce was spot on. I even liked it and I usually avoid secret sauce on hamburgers. To be honest I enjoyed the cooking but probably will get Michael's next Big Mac at the drive-thru window. You can view the video HERE. I am not going to post a recipe because there really isn't one.

Here's the list of ingredients for the sauce:

    - Mayo
    - Sweet pickle relish
    - Yellow mustard
    - White wine vinegar
    - Garlic powder
    - Onion powder
    - Paprika

You can get an idea of the amounts by watching the video. Here's my Big Mac and Fries. Yum.

I live with my husband and our little mutt Tucker in a lovely retirement community. I am cooking for two and taking inspiration from old cookbooks, magazines, and memories of watching my mother and grandmother cook. I like reducing my food waste and exorbitant grocery bills! I am busy rewriting my recipes for two servings with the option of adjusting the recipe up to four or six servings with just one click.
