I asked a few of my fellow food bloggers to share their easy ham recipes with great flavor the whole family will love. Here are Ham Recipes for Holiday Dinner, with great ideas for cooking a holiday ham, from a slow cooker ham to a classic ham with glaze. I am sure you will find one that will become your family favorite.
One of my favorite things about Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving, or Easter dinner is the holiday ham. Whether you serve a whole ham, a spiral sliced ham, a classic ham with glaze, or ham steaks, the ham is the main dish, the star of the show. Surrounded by shiny green beans, colorful sweet potatoes, and fluffy bright white dinner rolls, the ham is still the first bite you take. You can't go wrong with any of these beautiful hams!
After the holiday meal is over, the extra ham slices, chunks of ham, and even the ham bone are wrapped and refrigerated to be used in your favorite leftover ham recipes.
From a simple, hearty soup like ham soup or bean soup with chicken broth, to a fancy Monte Cristo sandwich or chicken cordon bleu, leftover ham is a great addition to many post-holiday recipes. A favorite of mine is ham tetrazzini, a leftover ham casserole with a creamy sauce and Swiss cheese. It is one of those easy recipes, whether cooked in the oven or the slow cooker.
No discussion of leftover ham is complete without talking about ham sandwiches, a great way to use those leftovers. Pieces of spiral sliced ham makes perfect ham and cheese sliders. You know the ones you see online? A pan of Hawaiian rolls is split in half, filled with ham and cheese and butter is poured all over the top before baking in the oven. Yummy, and they feed a crowd. One of my Dad's favorite recipes is ham salad with mayonnaise and finely diced green onions and celery. He loved it spread on Ritz crackers.
From our table to yours, we hope you enjoy ham for the holidays!
